A recent article in the Austin Business Journal indicates Williamson County is a hotbed for restaurants looking to make their entry or expand into the Austin market, and along with Round Rock, Cedar Park and Leander, Georgetown is a popular choice.
Here’s a look at restaurants recently opened in the city and others about to dish it up:
Encantada 205 W. Second St. Customers can find traditional Mexican dishes and unique specialties at Encanatada (formerly El Monumento) including chile relleno, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos and soups in this new downtown restaurant, open now.
Bahler Street Pizza Westinghouse Road and FM 1460 Bahler Street Pizza is slated to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant this spring on the border of Georgetown and Round Rock. Starting as a food truck, the restaurant will have wood-fired sourdough pizzas topped with fruit, jams and traditional pizza fare. It will share the space with Barking Armadillo Brewing.
Texas Honey Ham 4720 Williams Drive, Suite 220 Expected to open in March, Texas Honey Ham is known for its honey-glazed sliced ham, but that’s not all the restaurant has to offer. You’ll find an array of breakfast items, hot grilled sandwiches and homemade soups on the menu. You can also take home hams, turkey breasts, pulled pork and more.
Culver’s 4795 Williams Drive Freshness and hometown hospitality are on the menu at Culver’s, which opened its first Georgetown location last fall. Popular choices are Culver’s signature burger, the ButterBurger, cheese curds made with Wisconsin cheese, crinkle-cut fries and frozen custards.
Tim Hortons 3900 Williams Drive Known as Canada’s Starbucks, Tim Hortons is expanding in Austin, with a Georgetown location expected to open early this year. In addition to coffee, iced coffee and lattes, the store also has specialty drinks and an expanded breakfast and lunch menu. Make sure to sample the donuts.
Several other popular spots opened about within the last year or so:
Juliet Italian Kitchen 701 S. Main Street Juliet offers Italian comfort food straight from New York City’s Little Italy. You’ll find all your favorites, from arancini, Margherita pizza, bolognese and pasta di mare. Everything is made in-house — including the mozzarella. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays.
Gold Burger Diner 109 W. Seventh Street, Suite 110 Take a step back in time at Gold Burger Diner at the Georgetown Square. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant has traditional breakfast plates that are offered all day, burgers, blue plate specials and cocktails in coffee mugs.
City Post Chophouse 113 E. 8th Street Located in a historic building that once served as Georgetown’s post office and city hall, City Post Chophouse delivers memorable experiences in an elegant atmosphere. Wood-fired steaks and fresh oysters lead a dinner menu that also includes lobster, salmon and delectable sides. Open for lunch five days a week and brunch on weekends.
