Searching for something — anything — for your kids to do during spring break? Drop the stressful vacation plans and embrace a soothing staycation. Katy’s got everything from outdoor adventures to cultural hotspots. And let's not forget the kid-friendly attractions that’ll keep the little ones busy while you sneak in some much-needed adult relaxation. Plus, with all the shopping and dining options, you might even find yourself wondering why you ever wanted to leave in the first place. Park Adventures Alright, nature enthusiasts, Katy's outdoor scene is begging for your attention. Mary Jo Peckham Park should be your first stop. It’s got a picturesque lake, mini golf course playground, exercise stations, six-hole golf course and more. Katy Dog Park is 14 acres of pooch-friendly fun with a wading pool for dogs, custom dog showers, fountains and an agility course. Katy Play Station and Outdoor Pavilion offers an all-inclusive 13,000 square foot playground for all abilities including multiple-impaired and profoundly deaf children. More Outdoor Fun Parks are all well and good but if you are looking to do a little more, Katy has you covered. At the top of the list is Dig World. The state’s only theme park that allows you to operate full-sized construction equipment features a Cat Mini-Excavator, full-sized 236D3 Skid Steer Loader and UTV Side-By-Side. Trek through one of Katy's well-preserved prairie lands and learn about wildlife and conservation via the Katy Prairie Conservancy guided tours. Families can enjoy puttering round Popstroke, the ultimate mini golf course designed by Tiger Woods. Camps for Kids Just because its spring break doesn’t mean the learning has to stop —it just gets a little more fun. Kids can hone their Minecraft, Roblox and Lego skills at CodeNinja camps. Carson’s Art Schoolwill help kids unleash their inner Picassos. Little sluggers will enjoy a week at the Katy Sports and Fitness baseball camp. Got a kid that’s gotta move? Westwood Gymnastics and Dance will keep them on their toes. Cultural Explorations Katy’s got its fair share of museums and historical sites. Start with the Katy Heritage Museum, where you’ll find artifacts and exhibits that paint a picture of what life was like before WiFi (you know, the dark ages). Katy Veterans Memorial Museum is a great place to learn about local heroes and military history. Kids can climb aboard some vintage railcars and play conductor while you snap some Instagram-worthy shots at the MKT Railroad Museum. Indoor Activities If you prefer the indoors to the outdoors, Katy offers plenty to do. Ride Go Carts, play at the arcade, bounce around and try your hand at mini golf at the Katy Party Place . Little sluggers can hit a home run at their favorite ballpark with indoor batting cages at Home Run Dugout. Feel the thrill of indoor slides at Slick City. Introduce your kids to the 80s (teased hair and neon clothes not included) at Mason Road Skate Center. Momentum Indoor Climbing is one of the largest indoor climbing facilities in the Unites States. Let’s Shop Shopping in Katy is like going on a treasure hunt—minus the maps and pirates. First up is Katy Mills The 165+ stores feature many high-fashion outlets like Saks Fifth Avenue, Kate Spade, Nike and more as well as the Disney Jr. Play Zone and AMC Movie Theatres. LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch combines the great outdoors with great shopping. It’s dog-friendly and there are yard games, lawn yoga and Saturday concerts. Buc-ees — we know it’s a gas station but it’s also a wonderland of snacks, kitschy souvenirs and more. Historic Katy Shops & Antiques is Downtown Katy’s nod to the past with more antique shops than you can shake a stick at. Let’s Eat Katy’s dining scene is a smorgasbord of deliciousness. Katy Vibes is the place to be for good food and great live music. Flavors on Fire offers chef-led family cooking classes. Kids and pets are welcome at No Label Brewing Co. There’s also a playground so sit back on the patio, hoist a glass and congratulate yourself on a parenting job well done.
