People are moving to the Austin area, and when they do, they’re choosing Georgetown. In fact, Georgetown ranks No. 18 on a list of American suburbs people want to live, according to a recent report by moving services website moveBuddha. The report covers 50 metro areas across the nation, analyzing mover search data from January 2024 to February 2025. Georgetown had a “move-in-to-out” ratio of 1.46, meaning there were 146 searches for moves into Georgetown for every 100 searches for moving out. It’s no surprise to us that Georgetown is a coveted location. In a 2024 report of 360 suburbs of major U.S. cities, Georgetown ranked No. 52. Also in 2024, the U.S. Census Bureau listed it the eighth fastest-growing city in the nation. Part of Georgetown’s appeal is its small-town ambiance and popular annual festivals, including the Two Step Inn country music festival and the Red Poppy Festival held each spring. These events and others are reminiscent of Austin’s renown as being the “Live Music Capital of the World” without the crowds and higher home prices. Georgetown is also home to the most Beautiful Town Square in Texas, a picturesque setting that really shows its beauty while adorned with Christmas finery.
