![]() Harvest Green - From Freeze to Fabulous at the Village FarmApril 01, 2025
As the seasons do their quirky shuffle, the Village Farm stands tall as the social hotspot where neighbors, families and even Mother Nature herself gather for some quality time. From shrugging off an unexpected winter freeze to throwing spring celebrations bursting with hands-on fun, our farm never runs out of steam. Let’s rewind and savor the top moments from winter. It Snowed! In a plot twist straight out of a weather sitcom, January brought snow to Richmond, TX, turning our farm into a wintry wonderland. But instead of panicking (or building snowmen), the farm team got to work proving that Texans can handle snow—especially when there are crops on the line. With frost cloth, greenhouses and good old-fashioned grit, they made sure the veggies stayed snug and safe, even as temperatures plummeted. Thanks to their hard work, we didn’t miss a beat—or a bite—when it came to fresh, delicious produce. (And they even had time to build a few snowmen). When We Say Rain or Shine… The farmers market has always been the ultimate Saturday morning vibe: fresh produce, friendly farmers and more reusable tote bags than you can count. This season, a sneaky winter storm tried to mess with the flow, canceling one market and leaving some veggie baskets looking a bit sparse. But let’s not underestimate the resilience of our vendors; they bounced back like champs. Now, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the market is thriving again. Let’s Not Dwell on the Cold March brought the Spring Kickoff—a celebration so lively, even the farm’s goats seemed to be having a party. The bounce house took center stage, with kids treating it like their personal arena for high-flying adventures. Over at the face painting station, creativity ran wild. The farm games? Oh, those were a hit. And let’s talk about the meet-and-greet with the animal residents. The goats were clearly the divas of the day, basking in all the attention, while the chickens strutted around like they were on a red carpet. By the end of the day, the farm wasn’t just a place—it was a memory-making machine. Spring officially started here. Oh, to Be Young and Living in Harvest Green Spring Break at Harvest Green wasn’t about beaches or lazy afternoons, it was about goats, gardens and a whole lot of fun. The young Harvest Green residents who joined the Spring Break Day Camp got an unforgettable crash course in farm life. Armed with small hands and big enthusiasm, they hit the fields to harvest fresh veggies. Each camper planted a spring garden in the raised beds. And let’s not forget the cooking demo with Cook Learn Grow. The event was exclusive to Harvest Green residents, which is just one of the many cool perks you get when you move here. See You Next Season There are many more opportunities to have fun with us on the Village Farm. Everything from Farm Tours to our Fig Orchard Beautification Day!
