Riverstone - July 4th Revelers Have Ample Opportunities for Patriotic Fun

July 02, 2014

Fort Bend residents have several choices to celebrate the Fourth of July locally, including events hosted by the cities of Sugar Land and Missouri City.

Sugar Land is holding its annual Star-Spangled Spectacular 7 to 10 p.m. at Constellation Field. The family-fun entertainment will culminate in a fireworks finale that will illuminate the night sky. Tickets for the event have all been distributed, but the fireworks should be able to be seen from various locales around Sugar Land.

Missouri City’s yearly Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. at Buffalo Run Park, 1122 Buffalo Run. Event goers can enjoy a range of free activities, including moonwalks, rockwall climbing, mechanical bulls, a zip line and more.  Shaved ice, barbecue, funnel cakes, tamales and crepes will be available for purchase. Fireworks begin around 9:15 p.m. Parking is available at Thurgood Marshall High School adjacent to the park.

Those preferring to celebrate without the nearby boom might enjoy live blues music from T.C. & The Cannonballs at Sugar Land Town Square. The concert benefits Parks Youth Ranch, a Richmond non-profit that serves at-risk and homeless youth. The music begins at 7:30 p.m.
