Edgewater - Edgewater Pops the Cork on New MarinaOctober 28, 2010
WEBSTER – The cork was popped on the focal point of Johnson Development Corporation’s newest Bay Area community – the Edgewater marina. The official popping, along with a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the basin, was held on Wednesday, September 29th hosted by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and Edgewater. The Chamber issued a proclamation declaring September 29th, 2010 Edgewater Day, and community leaders, Realtors, and representatives from Johnson Development Corporation were on hand to celebrate the filling of the basin and to pop the cork on the remaining marina project. “Today marks the first step to bringing the Edgewater marina to life,” said Bob Douglas, Edgewater’s General Manager of the year-long project of building and filling the marina basin. “The marina will be home to up to 50 boat slips, a restaurant accessible by water, ship store, splash center and promenade making Edgewater the perfect community for boating and water enthusiasts to live and dock their boats.” The marina, designed to accommodate powerboats as large as 50 feet, offers convenient access to Clear Lake, Galveston Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico, and serves as a gateway to daylong or extended cruises thus reducing boat owners commute on every trip to their boat – a commute that can be reduced even further by owning a home in the water-oriented community. “Boat owners are intrigued by Edgewater’s location,” said Douglas, who met with several area boat owners to provide important feedback on the community and marina. “Many boaters come down from Houston to their boats on Friday night, spend the weekend in the cabin and leave on Monday morning having never moved their boat. So, having a slip that is located15 to 20 minutes closer to Houston is an important factor.” Edgewater is conveniently located off of Interstate 45 South and the NASA Parkway Bypass. The Bypass provides residents and boat owners with direct, uninterrupted access to and from the Master-Planned Community. With prices from the $250,000’s, models are now open by Coventry Homes and Newmark Homes in Edgewater, and early sales are a success. Both builders offer a dozen design options in Edgewater to complement the unique setting of the waterfront community, and the City of Webster is excited about new residential opportunities in their city. “We are extremely excited about Edgewater,” said Beverly Gaines, Webster City Council Member and Mayor Pro-Tem. “This development offers affordable, high-quality residential opportunities that will provide a substantial residential base for Webster by bringing in more people to our area.” Webster Mayor Floyd Myers appreciates the partnership with Edgewater and the City of Webster. “We’re glad to have Edgewater here. The progress they have made in just one short year has been amazing. Working together, we can both achieve success for Webster and its residents.” Area Realtors share the City’s enthusiasm for Edgewater citing the easy access and convenience as a major selling point to potential homeowners. “Whether you’re accessing the community by land or by water, Edgewater is all about convenience,” said Rick Wade, RE/MAX Associates in League City. “Much of the Bay Area is built out with nothing new. Edgewater is a new community by Johnson Development, and they have a reputation for excellence in Master-Planned Communities. This is a big day for the Bay Area.” Because of its water features, Edgewater is a unique community that Realtor Beverly Smith, Keller Williams Realty, feels will be especially appealing to boating enthusiasts. “Boating enthusiasts will love this small, boutique community focused on a water lifestyle. The community is so upscale with high-end homes at extremely attractive price points.” Edgewater, is a mixed-use, Master-Planned Community along Clear Creek on 538 acres in Webster, Texas. The community will feature upscale single-family homes, private canals and a town center with retail, commercial and residential components. Located on the NASA Parkway Bypass, the community is a short drive from metropolitan services and employment, shopping, dining and recreational centers. |
