Harvest Green - A Mural Here, a Painting There, Art in Harvest Green is EverywhereJune 08, 2017
If you’ve driven by our new mural or seen the farm-inspired painting hanging in The Farmhouse, you can tell that art is just as important to Harvest Green as vegetables. Now, a burgeoning partnership between our community and the KCAM Contemporary Art Museum Fort Bend is ready to transform Harvest Green into a mini art gallery. It’s another way to bring art to art lovers. Master-planned communities sometimes commission a local artist to create a statue, but this may be the first time a master-planned community has partnered with an entire museum. KCAM artist-in-residence Mark Deleon collaborated with Harvest Green in May, transforming a shed at the on-site Village Farm into a work of art with the help of residents, students from Travis High School — located in Harvest Green — and the George Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program. The farm-themed design can be seen from Harlem Road. Deleon will be creating even more beautiful murals at various locations within Harvest Green, as well as series of paintings inspired by our community. The series will be housed in The Farmhouse for everyone to enjoy. Plans are also in the works for Harvest Green to host KCAM’s annual Artist in Residence Exhibition in September. The two-year-old program is designed to provide professional and up-and-coming artists with opportunities that will help them succeed in their careers. A reception will be held for Deleon as he unveils his paintings from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7. The exhibit will run for four weeks. Special, resident-only art lectures and classes will be available, as well. Spend some time enjoying everything Harvest Green has to offer, including our art. |
