Take Time Out for Art Sept. 21

Harvest Green - Take Time Out for Art Sept. 21

September 12, 2017

Take time out of your busy schedule to enjoy a little food, a little drink and some gorgeous art as the Harvest Green Farmhouse is transformed into an art gallery on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 6-8 p.m.

We are hosting a reception in honor of KCAM Contemporary Art Museum Fort Bend artist-in-residence Mark Deleon. A noted painter and muralist, Mark has been a member of the KCAM Fort Bend team for the past year. His work will be displayed as part of a collaboration between our community and the museum.

In addition to the stunning paintings, art lovers will be treated to the lilting strains of the String Theory Orchestra, light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artist himself.

KCAM’s annual Artist-in-Residence program is designed to provide professional and up-and-coming artists with opportunities that will help them succeed in their careers, and we are happy to provide a temporary home where Deleon’s work can be admired.

The paintings will be on display at the Farmhouse for four weeks, giving you multiple opportunities to view his work and enjoy new aspects each time you visit.

Mark and his work is already known to our residents as he first collaborated with Harvest Green to transform a shed at the on-site Village Farm into a work of art with the help of residents, students from Travis High School — located in Harvest Green — and the George Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program in May.

And we will see more even more of Mark as he will be creating even more beautiful murals at various locations within Harvest Green.

In addition, we are hosting a Kid's Paint Studio at The Farmhouse on Saturday, Sept. 23 where children can express themselves creatively. A session for kids ages 5-8 will take place from 10 a.m. to noon. A second session for kids ages 9 to 12 will happen from 1-3 p.m. Sessions are $10 for Harvest Green residents and $35 for non-residents. Snacks will be provided.

The reception is free and open to the public. It is just one of the many ways we partner with the Fort Bend community we love. Come for the art and stay to see what our farm-centric enclave has to offer by way of beautiful homes, fresh produce and a healthy lifestyle for bodies and minds.
