Harvest Green Steps Up After Harvey

Harvest Green - Harvest Green Steps Up After Harvey

September 27, 2017

Neighbor helping neighbor is what Harvest Green is all about and when our Houston-area neighbors needed help in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, our residents mobilized to do their part.

Just hours after the storm, residents spearheaded an effort to utilize The Farmhouse as a donation center for victims in surrounding communities, said Sylvia Morgese, our lifestyle director.

“We were so fortunate at Harvest Green to not have any flooding or mandatory evacuations,” said Sylvia. “That gave us the ability and opportunity to help our neighbors in need during this time.”

From Aug. 30 to Sept. 13, the Farmhouse served as a donation center for relief effort. Residents stepped up with truckloads of water, dog food, diapers, clothing, cleaning supplies and toys that were donated to the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry and the Purple Heart.

Sylvia, who had to evacuate her own home during the storm, was impressed and amazed by the dedication shown by everyone within Harvest Green.

“I felt like a proud parent watching everyone come together and seeing the donations pour in,” she said. “I saw pictures of residents going out in swarms to other areas to deliver water and supplies. I couldn't be more grateful to be associated with such a caring and selfless bunch.”
