Voters Pass Fort Bend Mobility Package

Cross Creek Ranch - Voters Pass Fort Bend Mobility Package

November 09, 2017

Fort Bend County residents will see enhanced mobility after 70 percent of voters approving a $218 million mobility bond package that will fund 63 projects within the county.

The package, which will not bring any new taxes, supports residential and business growth, business recruitment opportunities, increased workforce availability and enhanced quality of life, says EDC President and CEO Jeff Wiley.

Many of the projects will benefit residents of Johnson Development communities:

  • The construction of Twinwood Ranch Road, providing new north/south mobility from the Brazos at FM 1489 to I-10
  • Adding southbound frontage roads along the Grand Parkway between Cinco Ranch Boulevard and Westheimer Parkway and Fry Road and FM 1093
  • Converting FM 521 to a four-lane boulevard from FM 2234 to the Brazoria County line
  • Extending Owens Road from US 90A to FM 1464 in Sugar Land, allowing for enhanced mobility and development of land tracts west of the Sugar Land Regional Airport
  • Multiple intersection enhancements in and around Sienna Parkway

The funds for the proposed projects will be leveraged through municipal, state, federal and private monies for a total investment of $389 million in the county’s transportation infrastructure.
