Trinity Falls - Introducing The Trinity Falls Tell Tales Book ClubFebruary 17, 2015
We know there are some book lovers in and around our McKinney, TX community so we've created a book club just for you! The Tell Tales Book Club at Trinity Falls gets together once a month to discuss a book. Last month we read Paper Towns by John Green and this month we are reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt! Even If you don't have time to read the books we choose each month, no worries! Come and enjoy snacks, meet new people, and see what the Tell Tales Book Club is all about! While this club is at Trinity Falls, it is open to the public. Have your friends get in on all the reading fun so they can come and discuss with us, too. Our next book will be The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. This best-selling novel has received several positive reviews, including one from the Washington Post. They write,
"With her sweeping third novel, Sue Monk Kidd continues her exploration of female empowerment that began with her memoir "The Dance of the Dissident Daughter" and led to her enormously successful novel "The Secret Life of Bees." In "The Invention of Wings," the latest Oprah book club pick, Kidd fictionalizes an inherently dramatic true story from our shared history of slavery to illuminate the lives of four women coming of age in Charleston during the volatile early 1800s. The real Sarah Grimke and her sister Angelina were born and raised in an elite slaveholding family, but they rebelled against their destinies as debutantes to become leading abolitionists and feminists. While the sisters' journeys are already immensely compelling, Kidd raises the stakes by weaving Sarah's first-person narrative together with that of an enslaved girl who was given to Sarah for her 11th birthday." We hope to see you at our next book club in March! It's a great way to meet your new neighbors and read some of the best books out there right now. |
