Trinity Falls - The Best Educational Outings For A Weekend Around McKinneySeptember 16, 2015
The weekends can be a great time for families unwind and have a little fun. One of the hardest parts for parents can be finding activities that are both informative and enjoyable. Luckily for residents of Trinity Falls, there are plenty of educational outings in McKinney, Plano and Frisco! Originally a farmhouse dating back to 1891, the Heritage Farmstead Museum showcases the farming history of North Texas. The museum is located in Plano and currently features the following exhibits:
The museum has many upcoming events, check to see which ones peak your interest! Heard-Craig Center for the Arts The Heard-Craig Center for the Arts is a beautiful historic home, preserved and maintained as a center for exhibits and educational events. The Heard-Craig family's personal collection of art, memorabilia and furniture are still on display in the home today. Upcoming events like "September Tea & Conversation: Stories in Quilts" will showcase the artistic and creative side of quilting through local quilt historian Carolyn Miller. The event is being put on by the Craig-Heard Center as well as downtown McKinney quilt store Happiness Is Quilting. Collin County Historical Society Dedicated to serving the general public and showcasing different aspects of the human experience, the Collin County Historical Society collects cultural property and puts on different exhibits. "The Vietnam Syndrome" is currently running. Chestnut Square Historical Village Just south of historic downtown McKinney Square, Chestnut Square Historical Village is a wonderful peek into the lives of Collin County residents from 1854-1940. The village features six historic homes, a school house, a convenience store, and a chapel. The grounds capture the feel of old-time McKinney and bring you back to a simpler time. It's a great way to see how much our every-day lives have advanced since that period. |
