Trinity Falls - Meet the 2016 US OlympiansAugust 02, 2016
The Olympics is a true showcase of athletic ability. It's also a time when the world unites to enjoy friendly competition. This year, there will be more than 10,000 athletes competing in the first edition of the Olympic Games in South America. Today, the master-planned community of Trinity Falls in McKinney, Texas is going to share a few of the 2016 US Olympians to keep your eye on. Michael Phelps(Image via teamusa.org) Michael Phelps is undoubtedly one of the most well-known Olympic athletes and holds the record for most Olympic medals at 22 - 18 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. His sport is swimming, and Rio 2016 will be his fifth Olympic Games. Simone Biles(Image via teamusa.org) Coming from Spring, Texas, these Olympic Games will be Simone Biles' first time in the Olympics. However, this 19-year-old gymnast is already one of the most decorated female gymnasts in the history of the sport. She has won the coveted All-Around gold medal in every world championships since the 2012 Olympics as well as many team and individual apparatus medals. She is a strong favorite to win the All-Around gold in Rio and it is possible she could go home with as many as five golds! Serena Williams(Image via teamusa.org) Many people know about this tennis star, especially when she teams up with her sister, Venus Williams. This will be her fourth Olympic Games, and she will be competing in both singles and doubles. Tony Azevedo(Image via teamusa.org) A veteran of the sport of water polo, Tony Azevedo, will be competing in his fifth Olympic Games. His position is attacker in water polo, and he has been competing in water polo on an international level since 1999. David Boudia(Image via teamusa.org) Rio will be David Boudia's third Olympics competing in the 10-meter individual and synchronized diving. He is a 20-time national champion and has medaled many times at the FINA World Championships. He will be diving individually and is half of the only US men's synchro diving team going to Rio. Allyson Felix(Image via teamusa.org) Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Allyson Felix has competed in 3 Olympic Games, and Rio will be her fourth. She has medaled six times in the Track and Field 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m events. These are just a few of the Olympians you can expect to see representing the US in Rio this year!
