Harvest Green - Rising Pastry Star Sweetens Chef Fest

Chef Fest at Harvest Green is bringing together a roster of the region’s culinary rock stars including rising pastry chef, Jillian Bartolome.

The young chef at Houston’s hot Asian restaurant Aqui has just been named a 2018 James Beard Award semi-finalist in the Outstanding Pastry Chef of the Year category. Bartolome has received acclaim everywhere she has worked — including her time as the executive pastry chef of Common Bond — but a James Beard nomination is a significant honor.

The James Beard Awards are the Oscars of the culinary world, recognizing the best of the best in every aspect of the restaurant industry. Bartolome isn’t the only chef appearing at Chef Fest to make the list. Chef Matt McCallister has been honored as a semi-finalist in Best Chef South category three times for his creative, flavorful dishes and Chef Monica Pope was honored with a nomination in 2007 for Best Chef Southwest

You can see Bartolome, McCallister, Pope and nearly a dozen other well-known chefs — plus sample their food at Chef Fest on Sunday, March 4. If you’d like to see them in a more intimate setting, you can purchase tickets for the Chef Fest VIP Experience, which provides early entry at 10 a.m. (regular entry is at noon) as well as opportunities to interact with all of the chefs. The cost is $120 and VIP parking passes also are included.

Ticket prices are $90 online. At-the-door purchases will be $105. Tickets for children ages 5 to 16 are priced at $30. Children under age 5 are admitted free.

Parking for Chef Fest is located at the adjacent Travis High School, 11111 Harlem Road, and complimentary bus service will deliver you to the Village Farm. Parking in the farm lot is limited to VIP ticket holders and those with handicapped permits.
