Harvest Green - Get a Taste of Louisiana March 18March 09, 2018
We’re celebrating the rich culture of Louisiana and taking part in Houston’s premiere photography biennial with spicy crawfish and fun festivities on Sunday, March 18, from 2 to 7 p.m. The event opens our newest art exhibit, “Louisiana: Child of the Mississippi,” a series of photographs by Austin-based photographer Kevin Greenblat. His photographs — shot in medium-format, black-and-white film — explore the diverse groups that populate southern Louisiana. The images of everyday life represent how those people, faced with many hardships, continue to persevere through community, tradition and hope. The exhibit will be on display at The Farmhouse, 3400 Harvest Corner Drive, as a part of FotoFest Fort Bend 2018: Biennial of Photography, which is one of 120 Houston FotoFest participating spaces. Participating spaces are independent venues across the city of Houston and the surrounding region that organize and present photography exhibitions during the six-week festival, which runs March 9 -April 13. It is also part of our ongoing collaboration with the Contemporary Art Museum Fort Bend and our Appetite for Art series. We’re pretty jazzed because this may be the first time a master-planned community has been a participating space. Admission to the exhibit is free. You can view Greenblat’s work while enjoying zydeco music by Raa Raa and the Zydeco Allstarz. Activities will include lawn games aand kids’ karaoke by Karaoke with Friends. Crawfish and traditional sides will be available from Southern Select Crawfish for purchase, as will an array of Cajun and Creole menu items from Renegade Kitchen and Catering. Appetite for Art takes place four times per year, showcasing local artists working in various mediums. In addition to this month’s festivities, you can tour our 11 well-appointed model homes and get a taste of life in Harvest Green. Need to move quickly? Our award-winning builders have a number of inventory homes available now. |
