Harvest Green - Chef Fest Thanks You (With A Cocktail)March 26, 2019
This year’s Chef Fest was a huge success. We had fun, you got delicious food and I’ll Have What She’s Having got $6,440. More than 500 food lovers came out to the Village Farm on March 10 to enjoy the culinary offerings of 10 featured chefs, as well as music by orchestral folk band American Dreamer, farm tours, lawn games and other activities. A portion of the proceeds benefited I’ll Have What She’s Having, a nonprofit that focuses on women — especially members of the culinary industry — who cannot access affordable health care. The funds will be used to help provide services such as well-women exams, cancer screening and treatment, teen sexual education, STD testing and treatment and post-partum care to impact Texas' maternal mortality rate. Most of the produce used at Chef Fest came from our neighbor, Loam Agronomics. Local ingredients also found their way into the cocktail shaker. Laurie Harvey and Kris Sowell, the beverage directors of I’ll Have What She’s Having, served up farm-fresh cocktails and mocktails. We thought we would say thank you to everyone who came out by sharing one of the most popular recipes. Not sure your bar skills are up to the task? Don’t worry. Our “Ladies of Libation” have created an approachable cocktail variation you can easily make and share with friends on the patio of your new Harvest Green home. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you next year! Texas Greyhound — inspired by the Urban Harvest Citrus Blossom 1.5 oz Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka Combine first 5 ingredients in a shaker tin.
