Grand Central Park - Summer and Beyond for KidsJuly 24, 2019
Summer is winding down but there is still plenty of fun to be had in and around Grand Central Park. Fun that can even be enjoyed when the school bell rings. Check out these great summer activities in nearby Conroe and The Woodlands that could instill a lifelong passion in your kids. Pick a Sport There’s still plenty of time to tumble at ASI Gymnastics summer camps. Two of the week-long camps are open to new campers. Once your child falls in love, finda class that will have them jumping all year long! FINS Swim School The Woodlands If your child is ready to dive into swim classes, FINS is in summer session until Aug. 9. Semi-private and small group lessons are available for kids six months and older. Continue the fun with swim classes all year long. Missed out on Maximum Athletics summer camps? Don’t despair. Open gym sessions begin 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. For an extreme challenge, sign your child up for Ninja Warrior classes, where they learn to run, jump, leap, vault, catch, grab, and flip. Martial arts classes help kids develop positive mental attitude, high goal setting, perseverance, self-control and confidence. If yours is ready, check out the programs at Cox. There are even classes for kids with special needs. En garde! Summer fencing camps are still available Aug. 5-9. No fencing experience? Children 5 years and up can enroll in Beginners Course to learn the basics. Explore the Art Encourage your child’s musical talents at The Art of Music. Fall registration has started and kids can learn to play an instrument, sing, explore Christian drama or musical theater. Music and movement combine to create art, and kids can learn ballet, tap, contemporary, hip hop and acro at this well-known studio. Missoula Children's Theatre at Crighton Theatre All the world’s a stage and if your child is a player, let him or her audition this year’s Missoula Children's Theatre fall production, Robinson Crusoe. Auditions are Sept. 30 and there are more than 60 roles available for children 5-17 years old. Mad Scientists Little Beakers – The Woodlands August science camps are still going on at Little Beakers. Sign your young science lover up for week-long robotics, optical or chemistry camps taking place Aug. 5-19. Then explore hands-on science classes for preschool, home school and after school science fans. Build math, logic and problem-solving skills through computer coding classes. Begin with a summer Roblox camp, 9 a.m.- 2p.m. Aug. 5-9 then sign your kids up to drop in anytime to build, learn, play and code at their own pace. |
