Harvest Green - Farmers Market Revs Up for National Drive Electric Week Sept. 21September 10, 2019
Electric vehicles are all the rage. They are environmentally friendly, fun to drive and coming to the Harvest Green Farmers Market on Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. The event is part of the fifth annual National Drive Electric Week presented by the Houston Electric Auto Association. Six Teslas, a Chevrolet Bolt, a Ford Focus Electric, a BMW i3 Rex and a Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid will be on display at the Village Farm, 8939 Harlem Road. Their owners will be on hand to answer questions about the benefits of owning an electric ride. National Drive Electric Week, Sept. 14-22, is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. They are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment, promote local jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. More than 1.2 million electric vehicles have been sold in the U.S., and more manufacturers are committing to these cars as the future. In addition to the cars, GenYoga will be hosting an all levels class from 9 to 10 a.m. on the Village Farm event lawn. The cost is $5. While there, don’t forget to shop our amazing vendors including Nando’s Honey, Southstar Herbal Products soaps, Chai’s Kitchen jams, Corazon Coffee, Wagyuru Beef and Biryani Hut Indian food. Our farmers market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. In addition to fresh produce, there are games and activities as well as a chance to visit Harvest Green’s goats and chickens. We invite everyone to come out to see these great vehicles and then stay for our fresh produce, artisan food vendors and fun. |
