HAABSE Honors Bowie, Travis Teachers

Harvest Green - HAABSE Honors Bowie, Travis Teachers

February 27, 2020

What makes a good school? Good teachers who care about the success of their students. Teachers like Kimberly Jones and Carolina Bolanos each recently recognized by the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) for the exemplary job they do.

The teachers were nominated by their principals and recognized at a ceremony held in February.

Kimberly Jones teaches U. S. History at Bowie Middle School. She has more than 15 years of experience as a teacher and is known for setting high expectations while encouraging students to explore their capabilities.

Carolina Bolanos has been teaching at Travis High School since it opened in 2007. She started out teaching Spanish but has been teaching French, including AP French, for the past three years. Her love of languages began in high school and her passion for language has inspired many students.

The two teachers were among 57 Fort Bend ISD teachers honored by the HAABSE. The organization’s goal is to enhance the education of all students and exercise leadership in providing valuable professional services and strategies to institutions, agencies and communities engaged in creating an environment in which students can achieve academic excellence.

Bowie Middle School, Travis High School and Neill Elementary are located right here in Harvest Green, allowing students to walk or ride their bikes to school.

We congratulate both Ms. Jones and Ms. Bolanos. Their students are lucky to have them!
