Imperial - Take a Spring Museum BreakMarch 10, 2021
Spring is in the air, which means rest and recreation for everyone — especially your kids. A great place to do both is your local museum. Children love them and if you pick one that allows them to touch the exhibits, that’s even better. Some museums also offer virtual programs, so you don’t have to travel far. Here are two Imperial favorites. Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center Located right here in Imperial, this branch of the Children’s Museum of Houston is currently offering a cornucopia of virtual fun via their new "All-Time Access" program. Every day, families can visit the Discovery Center’s Facebook page and YouTube channel where educators will lead them through art projects, science experiments, demonstrations, storytimes, field trips and more. The program is free. Houston Museum of Natural Science Sugar Land While most museums ask you not to touch, the Sugar Land branch of the Houston Museum of Natural Science says, “Please do” — at least for some of them. Children are sure to be fascinated by the Robot Zoo, an interactive exhibition featuring cutaways of animal insides that explain how animals work. Curiosity is your guide as you explore the eight themed chambers of the Collection of History, Mystery and Wonder exhibit. There’s also an Augmented Reality exhibit, planetarium, theater and more. |
