Big Wins at This Year’s Houston’s Best PRISM AwardsOctober 04, 2021
The Greater Houston Builders Association unveiled its first-ever Houston’s Best PRISM award for Realtor Relations Professional and it’s only fitting that the person who has literally redefined the role was named winner — our very own Tammy McCall. Her win was one of several for Johnson Development. Tammy started at Johnson Development in 2012, managing the Cross Creek Ranch Welcome Center. When we approached her in 2015 about taking on a new role in the company to promote Johnson Development communities solely to Realtors, she jumped on board, tackling the job with her usual energy and creativity. We knew from the start that this would be a Realtor relations role like no other when she chose her title to be “Realtor Relations Extraordinaire.” And extraordinary she has been. Instead of saying no when her calendar became too packed, Tammy created eight cutouts of herself to be at the events she couldn’t be at in person. These cutouts became so popular that builders use them as engagement exercises with visiting Realtors and sales agents love taking selfies with them. In a typical year, Tammy visits hundreds of Realtor offices, hosts dozens of continuing education classes for Realtors, attends dozens of agent events in our communities and goes out for lunch, coffee or happy hour with Realtors up to nearly 100 times a year. Beyond the in-person events, Tammy has a strong digital reach, with her popular Tammy Time Tuesday social media videos, quarterly eblasts and a Johnson Development Realtor Facebook group that boasts about 1,600 followers. Adding to her popularity is her mascot and beloved pooch Chance, who goes with Tammy just about everywhere. (And yes, she might have thanked Chance in her acceptance speech at the Houston’s Best PRISM Awards ceremony.) Tammy is so well-liked that when Newmark Homes hosted a birthday party for her in 2018 at their new design center, more than 100 Realtors attended. Perry Homes followed suit, and their 2019 birthday fete at the Cross Creek Ranch Welcome Center attracted more than 75 agents. Further proof of the success of her unique approach is the large increase in the number of real estate agents who help people find new homes in our community. When Tammy first started as Realtor Relations Extraordinaire, some of our communities had Realtor participation rates dipping below 60 percent. Today, all of her communities boast a Realtor participation rate of 80 percent — some are even at 85 percent. Johnson Development garnered several other trophies at this year’s contest: Harvest Green Woodforest Veranda Grand Central Park In addition, Johnson Development was named a finalist in the Grand Awards/Developer category and several other marketing categories, as well.
