Art, history or science — if there’s a subject you’re are interested in, you can explore it with a trip to one of Fort Bend County’s many museums. Museums encourage creativity and the development of critical thinking skills, plus they’re just fun. Exchange screen time for museum time at one of these museums located near Veranda: Richmond George Ranch Historical Park Think history is dry and boring? Think again. This internationally recognized living history site located on a 20,000+-acre working ranch features historic homes, costumed docents, hands-on activities, cattle working and blacksmithing demonstrations and more! The Fort Bend Museum Explore the history of Fort Bend from Stephen F. Austin's Colony in 1822 through World War II in 1945. The complex includes the museum, the Long-Smith Cottage, the 1883 John M. Moore Home and the McFarlane House. Rosenberg Rosenberg Railroad Museum All aboard for fun at this hidden gem detailing the history of trains. Exhibits include N scale, HO scale, O scale and G scale layouts, historical railroad artifacts, 1800's Bath House, Tower 17, MoPac Caboose and the "Quebec," a beautiful, fully restored 1879 business railcar. The Black Cowboy Museum Step into the boots of Bass Reeves, Nat Love and Bill Pickett while learning about the contributions Black cowboys made to the history of the West. Sugar Land Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center Children learn through play at this hands-on museum built specifically for them. The museum features five exhibits and an ever-changing roster of activities. Art Museum TX Located in Sugar Land Town Square, this contemporary art museum showcases the works of local artists. The Houston Museum of Natural Science Explore the wonders of science, technology, space, dinosaurs and more. The museum features 17 permanent exhibits including Discovery Works, a hands-on physics laboratory for kids. Special exhibits, the planetarium and butterfly center can be accessed for an additional fee. Sugar Land Foundation Museum Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the history of Sugar Land can be found here, including exhibits about life in a company town, railroads, the people and more. George Observatory Explore the galaxy at Brazos Bend State Park. Recently reopened after a three-year renovation period, the observatory features real-time camera feeds from the telescopes, expert interactions with astronomers and a laser tour of the night sky
