Swing Over for Jazz Fest April 29

Grand Central Park - Swing Over for Jazz Fest April 29

March 23, 2023

Jazz Fest, the coolest jazz event in Conroe, returns to Grand Central Park and you are invited! Swing over to The Lake House for smooth jazz, great vibes and plenty of family-friendly outdoor activities 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29.

This year, we are showcasing the musical artistry of Boomtown Brass Band, Raquel Cepeda and Bayou City Funk.

Boomtown Brass Band will bring authentic 1920s hot jazz to our community at 1 p.m.  The classic New Orleans jazz style also mixes in Chicago’s “Dixieland,” early 1930s “gypsy jazz” guitar and a touch of New Orleans second line. The band will lead guests in a second line parade at 2:30 p.m.

Raquel Cepeda is a well-known Houston jazz singer and songwriter. She has shared the stage with jazz legends Ellis and Delfeayo Marsalis. Her album “Passion” was nominated for “Best Jazz Album” at the 2020 Pepsi Music Awards and remained in the No. 1 position on the Roots Music Report Jazz chart for eight consecutive weeks. She will perform at 1:30 p.m.

Bayou City Funk takes the stage at 3 p.m. to wow listeners with their nitty-gritty roots funk, soul, blues and jazz fusion music. With one of the tightest three-piece horn sections around, they’ll have families dancing the rest of the afternoon.

A good jazz festival needs good food, so we’ve rounded up Houston’s top food trucks to supply you with fuel. Culinary Cognition, Conroe Party Connections and Frios Pops will offer an array of delicious food for purchase. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase. Children will enjoy the attentions of a balloon artist and face painter.

In between acts, step over to our model home park where you can pick up decorating ideas or even a brand-new home.

Admission is free. Parking will be available at 960 Town Park Drive, Conroe, TX 77304. your spot today! Don’t forget your lawn chairs and picnic blankets!
