Veranda - Find Inspiring Home Design in VerandaApril 19, 2023
Big and beautiful — two words to describe Johnson Development’s Best of the ‘Burbs Home Tour happening this month. There are more than 130 model homes on the tour, each filled with design features sure to ignite your inner design diva. Twelve communities are showcased on the tour, including Veranda, which has seven model homes open by five prestigious builders. Here are some current design trends to watch for as you tour our models: Warm Neutrals Gray is taking a backseat to the warm neutrals that are back in the driver’s seat when it comes to home design. You’ll find this trend in several of our model homes, but we really love what Highland Homes offers in its 55-foot model home. The warm hues venture from cream to chocolate in a range of solids and patterns. The green accents work with the tan colors to deliver a nature-inspired space.
Contrast Kitchens We started seeing contrast kitchens last year, and the design has only become more popular. This one is a must-see — David Weekley Homes has dark bottom cabinets and light upper cabinets in its 70-foot model home, with dark bottom cabinets and light upper cabinets. Painted doors are another contrasting element.
Outdoor Living We applaud Coventry Homes on its patio perfection found in its 65-foot model in Veranda. Sliding glass doors link the family room with the patio, which features textured flooring and board-and-batten ceiling treatment. The large patio easily accommodates seating for six, and the outdoor kitchen with a sink and mini fridge are welcome additions. The wall-mounted TV keeps the fun outside long after dinner is over.
Remarkable Lighting Lighting has come a long way over the past decade, and chandeliers are no longer delegated to only the dining room. David Weekly Homes has taken a playful approach, adding pendant lights that simulate stars for a space-themed bedroom in its 70-foot model home. Statement Wall The idea of using contrasting paint to create interest in a room is not new, but these days, we’re seeing more than just paint being used to create a statement wall. David Weekly Homes has gone outside-the-box by using flooring to create an accent wall in the 55-foot model home primary suite.
Metal Accents You’ll find liberal use of metal accents in several of our model homes, but we’d be remiss if we don’t point out the metal ceiling fans in both the Sitterle Homes 55-foot model and Perry Homes 65-foot model home. Both used in the family room, they complement the metal curtain rods, furniture and other accessories.
Minimalism An emerging trend is a swing toward minimalism when it comes to home design. Perry Homes gives us a wonderful example in its 50-foot model home. Lines in the primary bedroom are simple and elegant, the colors calm and the textures quiet. It all works to create a restful design — perfect for a bedroom! Model homes are open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Stop by to take a look at these professionally decorated model homes — you might even be inspired to buy a new home!
