Grand Central Park - The Highs Love Living ‘Shoulder to Shoulder’August 24, 2023
The High family jokingly calls Grand Central Park the “family compound.” That’s because three generations — parents, child and grandmother — have all taken up residence here. They live “shoulder to shoulder” and love every minute of it. Kathleen and Dan High were the first to make their home here, moving to Grand Central Park in 2018. “I would pass by the area nearly every day going to the YMCA,” Kathleen said. “When we decided to move closer to Conroe proper, it was one of the first neighborhoods we checked out.” Their son Kevin moved to Grand Central Park from Katy in September 2020. “Covid was in full swing, and he was out in the Katy area,” Kathleen said. “Housing prices were trending down a little and so were mortgage rates. It was an opportune time to see if moving closer to family was possible.” The family was joined by Kathleen’s mother Alice Holl last May from New Jersey. “She left a small town in New Jersey never having lived anywhere else,” Kathleen said. “We tease her that she's probably the oldest buyer in GCP at 86 years old. She's the Grande Dame of Grand Central Park.” All three generations fell in love with the beauty of Grand Central Park, especially Alice, who Kathleen said is in awe of every curve and plant and amenity. For each, the primary reason for moving to Grand Central Park was the desire to be around family. “The best thing is the ability to check on each other,” Kathleen said. “There's always someone available to transport to doctor appointments and church services. Once this hot weather breaks, we'll be able to enjoy the actual livable forest that we've been lucky enough to find.” |
