Woodforest - Where Shall We Play Today?

People buying a new home in Woodforest Sept. 1 through Oct. 31 will receive a free pass to explore the 76 state parks found throughout our great state. But what won’t expire in a year is the opportunity to enjoy sunny days at the more than dozen parks found throughout Woodforest. Here’s a look at some of our most popular:

The Vue at Crest Park

One of our newest parks is a 10-acre space that boasts Woodforest’s third pool. Little ones and their parents can take a rest from the water play at the adjacent 4,000-square-foot open-air party pavilion. There’s also an event lawn and picnic tables. Phase 2 will bring a dog park and disc golf course.

Everett’s Peak Park

This gated park is all about having fun, with three play areas. Parents can rest under the trees on benches and at picnic tables. Café lights allow the play to continue into the evening. There’s even a water fountain for two- and four-legged residents.

The Park at Pine Market

Tucked into our Pine Market town center, The Park at Pine Market is an active green space that gives people another reason to visit. The park is a perfect spot to listen to live music, enjoy a picnic (with food from a Pine Market restaurant), practice yoga and simply get outside. See what events are coming up.

Scooter Park in Forest Heights

One of our earliest play spaces to make an appearance in Woodforest was Scooter Park, a 1-acre park with playground equipment for a variety of ages. The 6-foot-wide scooter racetrack that encircles the playground gives the park its name.

Lily Pad Spray Park

Another first — our first water feature — is Lily Pad Spray Park. The spray pad boasts fountains and spray elements that shoot water up to 10 feet. A log footbridge crosses the stream leading to the Frog Pond, suited for children ages 3 and younger. Bronze frogs gently shoot water, inviting children to reach out and touch. Parents love the park’s picnic pavilion and often host birthday parties and other celebrations there.

Forest Island

Trails connect Lily Pad Spray Park to Forest Island, home to Woodforest’s first pool — and what a pool it is! A 42-foot water tower, twisting slides, a sports zone and zero-entry lagoon make it fun for all ages. Forest Island also has tennis courts, a full-size basketball court and a zipline playground.

Kingsley Park

The 1-acre Kingsley Park is a place where neighbors can meet, greet and eat — much like a large backyard. The tree-lined park boasts several sitting areas, including an outdoor kitchen space for barbecues and a community harvest table. A large open lawn offers opportunities to play games under shady trees strung with café lights.

Wallaroo Park

Wallaroo Park is a welcoming space designed for children of all ages and abilities. A highlight of the park is the 12.5-foot-tall Sona Play Arch, which uses smart-camera technology to measure players’ movements using sound and movement. The structure is anchored by a play floor that features colors and numbers used in the interactive technology, all of which have increasingly difficult levels of play. Because of its size, the Sona Play Arch can also accommodate children in wheelchairs and is developed to be accessible for children with mental and physical disabilities. Other features include an accessible slide, spinner play pieces and LED ribbons that serve as water misters.

Christine Allen Nature Park

This 33-acre park is by far the largest of all of Woodforest’s parks. This nature preserve offers trails for walking and jogging, beautiful overlooks and a spectacular pedestrian bridge. It is a favorite among anglers in the community looking to enjoy catch-and-release fishing.

Admiral Bark Park

With dedicated play spaces where large and small dogs can run freely, Admiral Bark Park is named after our very first canine resident, Admiral Paul.
