Riverstone - ‘Purr-fect’ Pet ‘Paw-trait’ IdeasDecember 06, 2023
This month we asked Riverstone residents to dress their pets in holiday duds for our “It's A 'Wonder-Fur' Life Photo Contest.” The results have been adorable. Want to take some festive photos of your pets? Here are some creative ideas for capturing “purr-fect” pet “paw-traits.” Break Out the Santa Hats Is there anything cuter than “Santa Paws?” Shop for Santa hats at your local pet store and place your pet in a cozy holiday-themed setting featuring a miniature Christmas tree or next to a plate of holiday dog biscuits. If hats aren’t your thing, you can buy pet-sized antlers and take pictures of them on a sleigh. They’re Part of the Family Include your pet in family photos, especially if they have their own festive attire — bonus points if everyone matches. PajamaGram sells matching family sleepwear that includes clothes for cats and dogs. Spark Pawshas fun matching dog-and-owner sweaters and hoodies. Unwrapping Gifts Capture the excitement of your pet unwrapping a holiday gift. This could be a special toy or treat wrapped in festive paper. Get shots of them tearing the paper or enjoying their new present. Get Down to Their Level Get down to their level and take pictures from your pet’s perspective. That could include having them nestled among the gifts with only the lower part of the tree in the photo, posing your pet next to kids’ feet dressed in holiday socks or looking up at their Christmas stocking. (Your pet does have their own stocking, right?) Create a Backdrop Clothes are fine, but if your pet prefers to go au naturel, create a holiday-themed background instead. Set up a photo area with props like giant ornaments and snowflakes, or a backdrop featuring a snowy scene. Candid Camera Sometimes the best photos are candid ones. Let your pet roam and play in a holiday-decorated area, capturing their natural reactions to the festive surroundings. Fireplace Snuggles If you have a fireplace, capture cozy moments with your pet lounging by the fire. Decorate their bed with a holiday blanket or surrounded by holiday-themed dog toys. Tips for ‘Purr-fect’ Photos Pets aren’t always the most cooperative when it comes to having their picture taken. Remember to be patient and use treats or toys to keep your pet engaged during the photo session. Don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the holiday spirit with your furry friends! |
