Kresston - Traverse the Kresston BBQ TrailMay 06, 2024
It’s National Barbecue Month! The kickoff to the summer grilling season encourages home chefs to break out the secret sauce recipes and bring the heat to neighborhood get-togethers. Don’t have time to break out the barbecue? Not to worry, Kresston is surrounded by mouthwatering barbecue joints. Here are our five favorite pit stops on the Kresston BBQ Trail. Named the 2024 Best Barbeque Restaurant in Town by Restaurant Guru, The Meating Place BBQ has been a favorite with Magnolia residents since it opened in 2017. Led by lifelong barbeque enthusiast Buddy Adams, the restaurant serves up brisket, pulled pork, ribs and sausage. Only the best certified Black Angus (CAB) prime cuts of brisket are used. You can even stop in for breakfast. Bar-A-BBQ has only been open a little over a year, but it already has a reputation as one of the best BBQ joints in Montgomery. Pitmaster Cooper Abercrombie opened the restaurant after hosting a number of successful barbecue pop-ups. The 1,000-gallon Mule Skinner-built offset barrel smoker turns out everything from bacon for breakfast to brisket for lunch. The house-made sausages feature local ingredients purchased at the Houston Farmers Market. The classic sides are delectable; favorites include green bean casserole and banana pudding. Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue has been featured in the Houston Chronicle, New York Times, Texas Monthly and Man Fire Food on the Cooking Channel. The unique concept started out as a craft confectionery where Michelle Holland and her brothers Scott and Greg Moore fire-roasted cocoa beans for chocolate bars. Later they added a café serving up some of the best Texas-style barbecue around. Located in Old Tomball, the restaurant offers a variety of meats, including 100 percent all-natural USDA prime-grade brisket smoked over oak wood. Pork shoulder, pork ribs, pork belly, turkey, chicken and house grind sausages are also on the menu. House-made sausages are Reveille Barbecue Co.’s claim to fame, but you’ll also get excellent brisket, turkey, pork belly, hamburger, pulled pork and pork ribs. Pitmaster Michael Michna was a founding partner in the business which opened as a trailer in Magnolia in 2018. Today it has a brick-and-mortar location in Pinehurst. Killen’s BBQ in Cypress is pitmaster Ronnie Killen’s third location. The original Killen’s opened in Pearland in 2013. The Cypress location serves up an extensive menu, including brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, turkey, pulled pork, sausage, sandwiches, meat plates and signature sides that include potato salad, coleslaw, creamed corn, baked beans and macaroni and cheese. You can also try the BBQ pizza, brisket nachos and wings. The Trailhead Starts at Kresston The BBQ Trail starts at Kresston.
