Kresston - Magnolia ISD Buys Land in Kresston for New School

Magnolia Independent School District recently closed on a 15.7-acre tract of land in Kresston for a new elementary school.

The land was purchased with funds from the November 2022 bond referendum. Design and construction of the facility will be dependent on the results of a new bond election. Timing for that has not been announced.

"We look forward to the continued partnership with Kresston and Johnson Development,” said Assistant Superintendent of Operations Dr. Erich Morris. “Having purchased land for a future school site in the development puts MISD in a position to be prepared for the growth in Kresston and along the FM1486 corridor."

Home sales in Kresston are expected to begin in early 2025. The 1,400-acre Johnson Development community is planned for 3,600 homes.

“This school site is located in the Heartland District within Kresston, one of two districts currently under development in the community,” said Stephen Barrera, Vice President and General Manager of Kresston. “This district will also be home to our welcome center and phase one amenities.

“Part of Kresston’s appeal is the Magnolia school district, which is highly regarded for its small-town approach and big-city innovations when it comes to academics and extra-curricular opportunities. We connected with school district leaders as soon as development of Kresston began and want to continue to support their outstanding efforts.”

Kresston is located near Magnolia with frontage along State Highway 249 and FM 1486, with the community’s initial entry off of FM 1486. Access to the Aggie Expressway will make Kresston an option for people who work in College Station, The Woodlands, Tomball and other areas of greater Houston.
