Johnson Development Promotes Derek Goff to Lead New Fort Bend Community

Johnson Development Promotes Derek Goff to Lead New Fort Bend Community

June 19, 2024

After 10 years managing development of the largest master-planned community in Fort Bend County and the largest community in the Johnson Development portfolio, Derek Goff is assuming a new role as Vice President and General Manager of a newly announced Johnson Development community.

Goff has been promoted to begin development of 1,500 acres recently acquired from The George Foundation. He will be responsible for the overall and day-to-day operations of the yet-to-be-named community.

“Derek has had consistent success in the development of Sienna, which — at 10,800 acres — is quite an accomplishment,” said Michael Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Development. “He is the perfect choice to guide development of this new community by continuing the excellence we’ve demonstrated in our other Fort Bend communities while preserving the legacy of The George Ranch.”

A long-time Fort Bend County resident, Goff brings 20 years of residential real estate experience, including 10 years with Johnson Development. He joined the company as Development Manager in 2014 and was promoted to Senior Development Manager in 2021. Prior to joining us, Goff worked as a Land Development Construction Manager for Meritage Homes, a Project Representative for LJA Engineering and an Associate with TBG Partners. He has also worked at Westport Homes.

Goff holds a degree in Business Management and Operations from the University of Houston.

Allison Bond, who has been Sienna’s Marketing Director since 2016, has stepped into the role of Development Manager, succeeding Goff. Morghan Powell, who has been on our marketing team since 2017, has been named as the new Sienna Marketing Director.

A timeline for when home sales might begin in the new Fort Bend community has not been announced.

“It’s been a privilege to manage the many development aspects of Sienna, the largest master-planned community in Fort Bend County,” Goff said. “I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the team to create a community unlike any other that residents will be proud to call their home. It’s an extreme honor to lead this community, particularly because it’s the first major land sale by the 80-year-old George Foundation which has invested more in the residents of Fort Bend than anyone in the county’s history.”

This new community will be our ninth community in Fort Bend County. In addition to Sienna, the other communities are Riverstone and Imperial in the Sugar Land region; Veranda and Harvest Green in Richmond; and Cross Creek Ranch, Jordan Ranch and Cross Creek West in Fulshear.
