Kresston - Magnolia Roots Concert Raised $130,000+September 16, 2024
We are thrilled to have been the title sponsor of an inaugural event that raised more than $130,000 for Magnolia ISD students and staff! The Magnolia Roots Concert and Fundraiser, held Aug. 31, brought out the community for a night of music and support of the Magnolia Education Foundation. The lineup of talented musicians included five Magnolia ISD former and current students. The several hundred in attendance enjoyed a diverse range of performances, from student performers to up-and-coming artist Joey Greer and ‘90s country legend Rick Trevino. “We are thrilled with the turnout and the incredible support we received from the community,” said Becca Henry, Magnolia Education Foundation President. “Our goal was to create a memorable night of music, while also raising funds to give back to Magnolia ISD staff and students, and we are proud to say the event exceeded our expectations.” Adding to the evening’s excitement were live and silent auctions that featured items donated by local businesses and beautiful paintings donated by students and art faculty of Magnolia ISD. Plans are already underway for next year’s concert, with the goal of building on this year’s momentum. The Magnolia Education Foundation is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to fund grants for innovative teaching projects, student scholarships, increase volunteer participation in foundation activities and events, and provide endowment funding sources to foster creative teaching activities. Last year, the foundation provided $63,135 to Magnolia ISD for innovative teacher grants. More than $910,000 in teacher grants have been awarded since the foundation’s start in 2001. Graduating Magnolia ISD seniors can apply for four scholarships through the foundation.
