We may have said goodbye to summer, but things are heating up in Johnson communities with a cornucopia of events that will have you shopping, running and having fun. Take a look: Shop ‘til You Drop Sip & Shop Shopping with a side of libations, food and music promises fun for everyone during a Sip & Shop event, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Grand Central Park. More than 100 local vendors will offer up unique jewelry, boutique clothing, art, gourmet food, furniture, decorations and more at The Lake House, 1039 Lake House Drive, Conroe, TX 77304. Accompanying them will be food trucks, wine and beer to sip, DJ and more. The event is free. Also happening in Grand Central Park are two more shopping days — an Artisan Market planned for Nov. 2 and Dec. 7 at The Lake House. The market opens at 9 a.m. Gingerbread Market The Sienna Gingerbread Market kicks off the holiday shopping season for a 19th year 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Sawmill Lake Club, 10323 Mount Logan in Missouri City. The market is expected to be the biggest yet, with more than 60 artisans, crafters and local vendors. As in year’s past, admission is one or more non-perishable food items for the Second Mile Mission food pantry. Guests ages 21 and older will receive two tickets for an adult beverage with the donation of a canned good while supplies last. Food trucks will also be onsite with items for purchase. Those looking for fresh produce, specialty foods and other gift items can shop the Farmers Market Partners open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at 5855 Sienna Springs Way in Sienna. Riverstone Holiday Market Shoppers can get a head start whittling down their gift lists during the 13th Annual Riverstone Holiday Market, 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15. Merchants will offer unique items for sale at The Club at Riverstone, 18353 University Boulevard, including décor items, custom jewelry, apparel for adults and children, baked goods, beauty products, books, handcrafted items and more. Admission is one canned good to be donated to Second Mile Mission Center. The donation entitles attendees to complimentary lite hors d'oeuvres, signature cocktails for guests 21 and up and a custom shopping bag while supplies last. Racing for Charity CURE-Ageous 5K Fun Run Cross Creek West in Fulshear is inviting the public to run its streets for a good cause during the CURE-Ageous 5K Fun Run 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Participants will meet at 31427 Cross Creek West Blvd. for the start of the race, which benefits the IBC Network Foundation. The non-profit is dedicated to raising awareness of Inflammatory Breast Cancer and funds for research of a cure. The foundation will receive 100 percent of the donations and runner registration fees. In addition to the 5K, there will also be a Kids’ Fun Run, as well as vendors, activities and healthy street eats for purchase from food trucks. Wicked Fun Run Runners and walkers can put in some miles to help children in need during the 3rd annual Wicked Fun Run at Riverstone, 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Participants can compete in timed competitive and non-competitive waves at The Club at Riverstone, 18353 University Boulevard. There will be a 1K kids’ run for the younger set. The fee is $35 for competitive racers, $25 for non-competitive racers and $15 for the kids' run. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers. The event concludes with a post-race party featuring a photo booth, DJ, bounce houses, face painters and more. All proceeds benefit St. Laurence, a charity providing shoes to children in need. Participants can choose to donate a pair of kids' tennis shoes of equal value to St. Laurence in lieu of race fees. The Resort at Amira, 19434 Tobiano Park Drive in Tomball, will be decked out for autumn and offering fun-filled, fall-themed activities that includes a petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, bounce houses, face painting, train rides and more. The community’s six model homes also will be open for touring. Admission is free. Happy Haunts Spooktacular An afternoon of thrills, chills and plenty of ghoulish giggles awaits families during the Happy Haunts Spooktacular, 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Jubilee. The family-friendly event taking place at Jubilee’s Model Home Haven, 26134 Happy Home St. in Hockley, includes a DJ spinning spooky hits, inflatables, pumpkin carving contest, scavenger hunt, balloon artist, face painter, crafts and games. Each of the community's eight "boo-tively" décorated model homes will feature a different activity. Costumed kids can traverse a trail of treats free of gluten, nut, soy, dairy and artificial dye/flavors. The event is free, but people are asked to RSVP at https://www.liveinjubilee.com/event-happy-haunts. Diwali Diwali returns to Sienna 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in a bright celebration of togetherness at the Sawmill Lake Club and Event Pavilion, 10323 Mount Logan in Missouri City. The annual festival brings dance, music, food and more, with audience members able to participate in Bollywood dancing, dhol drummer performances, henna artistry, children’s crafts and food trucks offering authentic cuisine. A fireworks display will end the evening. Tickets can be purchased online. Prices are $10 per adult and $5 for students. Children under the age of 12 are admitted for free.
