Harvest Green - OutRun Hunger Raises Record-Breaking $35,000 for Charity

It was a record-breaking year for the annual OutRun Hunger 5k Family Walk and Run hosted by Harvest Green, with $35,000 raised for the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

More than 470 adults, 125 children and 46 sponsors participated in the event benefiting the non-profit organization which operates a food pantry and aids families and individuals during times of temporary financial crisis.

“We are so grateful to everyone who participated this year,” said Megan Leonhardt, Director of Development for East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. “Last year the run raised $34,000. To exceed it this year is a testament to generosity of the Fort Bend community. One hundred percent of the proceeds from OutRun Hunger go back to ministry to help feed our Fort Bend County neighbors in need.”

Approximately $166,500 has been raised by the run since its launch seven years ago. The money will be used by the organization to provide food and financial assistance to children, families and seniors. In 2023, the organization’s food pantry served 11,358 families.

The race ended with an after-party at the finish line for participants and their cheering squads. The top three male finishers were Solomon Nichols, Cody Ewing and Max Olguin. The top three female finishers were Abigail Boyd, Amy Guzman and Haley Boyd.

The OutRun Hunger 5K Is one of several East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry fundraisers Harvest Green participates in throughout the year.

"We have had a close relationship with the organization pretty much since Harvest Green opened," said Kore Deaville, Director of Marketing for Harvest Green. "Their work feeding the hungry aligns perfectly with our goal of helping people serve farm-fresh, organic produce at their tables."
