Nolina - Five Design Trends to WatchOctober 28, 2024
More and more interior designers were bidding farewell to “greige” at the start of 2024, as they embraced warmer neutrals. That trend has only grown more prevalent as the year has progressed. Here are five more trends design divas are embracing this fall, including those that you can see in action at our model homes! Bright and Shiny Glossy elements — glazed tiles, shiny accessories, brass hardware and faucets — add texture to a palette of warm neutrals. Our model homes give several examples of this trend, including glossy tile in model homes by Chesmar Homes and Taylor Morrison and the brass hardware used through the Perry Homes model. Westin Homes embraces the shine with a generous use of glossy accessories and lighting into the family room of its Nolina model home.
Going for Comfort Homes are trending for a more comfortable look, and one way designers are achieving this is through curved furniture. See examples in Chesmar Homes’ 50-foot model home as well as the 50-foot model by Taylor Morrison, where the open-concept dining room and family room have several curved furniture pieces. You’ll also see examples of mid-century furniture in several Nolina models, a move that evokes the comfort of yesteryear.
Wood and More Wood Wood furniture has been a mainstay in interior design, but now this furniture is trending toward heavy, sustainable pieces. You can see the look in both Taylor Morrison model homes, with a broad, substantial dining room table and side tables in the 50-foot model home and sizable pieces in secondary bedrooms in the 45-foot model home. And while it’s not furniture, Perry Homes and Chesmar Homes (45-foot model) have wood-look walls in their home offices, which is another way to incorporate more wood into your home.
Color Drenching Color drenching is painting walls and ceiling all one color, delivering a dramatic look that is warm and embracing. Perry Homes gives us a spectacular example in the media room of its Nolina model where walls and ceiling are painted a warm black, as are the ceiling fan and wall sconces. A colorful couch and lighter flooring counterbalance the deep walls.
Spa-tacular Baths Like warm neutrals, creating a spa-like bath isn’t new for fall 2024, but it is certainly becoming more common. The standalone tubs in the Perry Homes and Westin Homes models in Nolina help achieve this effect — particularly when complemented by a wooden board that could hold bath products, a candle or glass of wine. Minimalist accessories and warm lighting complete the spa-like atmosphere. All our model homes are new this year, so they are embodiments of current design trends. Take a tour to see more examples of the above, as well as other trending elements, including use of color, statement lighting, biophilic design and more. Model homes are open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Visit during this month’s Autumn Harvest Home Tour for fall-themed treats at each model home!
