Brookwood Community is a Christian-centered, innovative vocational and residential community for adults with disabilities. Volunteer opportunities include decorating and maintaining facilities, doing yard work, cooking dinners and spending time with or reading to community members. Ride on Center for Kids provides equine-assisted services to children, adults and veterans with physical, cognitive and emotional challenges. Volunteer opportunities include horse handlers, side walkers, arena assistants, special event assistance, fundraising, ground and facility management and more People with memory loss and their caregivers can find support at A Gift of Time. Programs include social gatherings where attendees can share memories and play games. Volunteers are needed to assist with social gatherings, performing, facilitating art and crafts, serving meals, providing respite companionship and educating others about dementia. A community-oriented organization, The Caring Place provides for basic human needs, including operating a food pantry and a thrift store and supporting people in need with financial assistance. Volunteer opportunities include assisting with enrollment, performing clerical tasks, shopping and stocking the food pantry, shopping, sorting donations, serving as a cashier and merchandising at the thrift stores. Help families with the gift of reading at the Georgetown Public Library.
