Cross Creek Ranch Nears Close-OutSeptember 03, 2024
The sun continues to set on Cross Creek Ranch, a community that has transformed the Fulshear landscape. There are only about 250 opportunities remaining for a new home in Cross Creek Ranch, a 3,200-acre community that will have about 6,000 homes at close-out. Thirteen model homes remain in the community, and there are several dozen homes in varying stages of construction. Five builders remain:
Trendmaker Homes (now Tri Pointe Homes) originally acquired the 3,200 acres for Cross Creek Ranch and began development in 2006. Johnson Development purchased the community in 2012, continuing the natural and sustainable vision originally set for the community. More than 400 acres of amenity waterways flow throughout the community, and native grasses are used for landscaping. The 50-acre Polishing Pond serves as both a community amenity and a wetland treatment basin. An agricultural ditch was transformed into the award-winning Flewellen Creek Nature Preserve, a 2-mile stream surrounded by 150 acres of parkland that traverses Cross Creek Ranch. The restoration of Flewellen Creek won a Parks and Natural Areas restoration award by the Houston-Galveston Area Council in 2014. The community won other awards for its environmentally sensitive development, including a Trees for Houston Arbor Award in 2016 and a Sustainability Stars Award by the West Houston Association in 2018. Cross Creek Ranch has also been popular with home buyers, landing on the list of the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities nine times since 2013. It was most recently ranked No. 46 in the nation for sales during the first six months of 2024. Fulshear has grown tremendously since Cross Creek Ranch opened. In 2010, Fulshear’s population stood at just under 1,200. Today, it has more than 42,000 residents and is considered the second fastest-growing city in the nation. In addition to homes, numerous businesses have moved into the area — several of which are in Cross Creek Ranch. Also located in the community are four onsite schools.
