Nolina - Top 10 H-E-B Items We LoveNovember 30, 2023
If you’re new to Texas, you might be wondering, “What is this fascination with H-E-B all about?” Simply put, H-E-B grocery stores are the pride of Texas and people willingly travel up to an hour to shop there. Luckily, if you live in Nolina you won’t have to drive that far — H-E-B is just a few minutes down the road. Once you get there, where should you start? Here are 10 of our favorites: House-Made TortillasAll H-E-B stores feature tortillerias that churn out fresh flour and corn tortillas daily. You can even purchase them still warm from the oven. They are made without artificial ingredients and talk about fluffy! These buttery tortillas are the best things to buy for burritos, soft tacos and quesadillas. Mootopia MilkRumor has it that Mootopia Milk is a favorite post-workout drink with many sports professionals. The tasty lactose-free drink starts as milk. It is then filtered to remove some water. This concentrates the vitamins and minerals. The result is milk with 50 percent more protein and 50 percent less sugar than whole milk. Whataburger FavoritesH-E-B partnered with everyone’s favorite burger joint to sell Whataburger brand condiments best items such as ketchup, mustard and mayo as well as the chain’s buffalo and honey barbecue sauces. Meal Simple™Had a long day at work? Stop by H-E-B and pick up something from the Meal Simple™ line. These house-made and ready to cook meals are a must have, and their meals go beyond pizza and lasagna. Feel like comfort food? Try the chicken pot pie. Need something fancy? How about Oysters Rockefeller with Bacon? There is an entire range of lunches just for kids that will definitely make the morning rush a little easier. Creamy CreationsWe don’t want to say that H-E-B’s ice cream line rivals Blue Bell (the heresy!) but it’s pretty darn good. There are a lot of delicious flavors, but we really like Salted Caramel Truffle, Honey Cake and Cookies Over Texas. They even have dairy-free flavors. Central Market Hatch Green Chile QuesoThere’s queso and then there’s Central Market Green Chile Queso. Loaded with Hatch chiles, this is more of an addiction waiting to happen than a delicious dip. Use it in your favorite Mexican dishes or just use it as a crudite dip. You won’t have to worry about leftovers. That Green SaucePractically every Texas home has a bottle of this spicy sauce in the pantry. Made with jalapeños, poblano chiles and sour cream, it’s indescribably good. Pour it on eggs, fajitas, tacos or any dish that needs a little kick. Texas-Style Barbecue SauceThis sauce is not for the faint of heart. The perfect combination of tomato and spices, this sauce is a great substitute for tomato sauce and one of our favorites. Serve it on the side with chicken or brisket, slather it on burgers or try using it as a dip. Beef BrisketWe’re not saying Texans invented barbeque brisket, but they sure are the best at making it. Of course, to make the best, you have to start with the best, which is why grill masters head to H-E-B when it’s time to fire up the grill. The meat is always locally sourced and fresh. It’s also good braised and roasted. H-E-B Cookie ButterWhat can you do with cookie butter? What can’t you do! H-E-B’s brand-name cookie butter tastes like spiced shortbread cookie. It’s smooth creamy and perfect for spreading on toast, bagels, pancakes and even other cookies. There are no artificial flavors or preservatives either, so you can feel good eating it straight out of the jar.
