Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a peaceful stroll, area trails provide endless opportunities for adventure. And they are as user-friendly as they come. No scary mountain cliffs, just miles of scenic beauty waiting to be explored. Not sure where to start? Here are five favorites. This 3.7-mile out-and-back trail showcases areas that could have been pulled from fairytale illustrations. Part of the 26-mile San Gabriel Goodwater Loop, the trail is not challenging and ends in a beautiful waterfall. The trail can be accessed via Cedar Breaks Park. Be sure to bring lots of water and snacks so you can sit and enjoy the view. Goodwater Trail to Lake Georgetown The Goodwater Trail is one of the longest trails in Texas Hill Country but the trail to Lake Georgetown is a manageable 2.3 miles. The moderately challenging trail takes about an hour to traverse but it’s worth the walk as it winds around beautiful Lake Georgetown. San Gabriel River from Blue Hole Looking for a hike you can sink your feet into? This 10.4-mile out-and-back trail is a combination of the Winfred H. Bonner Trail and the Randy Morrow Trail. Most of the trail is paved, shaded and well-maintained. The views are spectacular. The trail can be picked up at Blue Hole. During the summer you can swim, then take a scenic hike. A more challenging hike can be had along this 1.5-mile out-and-back trail. The trailhead is located at the western edge of Blue Hole Park. The terrain can be rocky and steep in places. While this can be difficult to traverse, rock climbers will fall in love. The trail itself only takes an hour or so to complete unless you stop to take selfies of your hiking prowess. Russell Park to Walnut Spring Park This fun and easy 3.9-mile out-and-back trail is popular with birdwatchers, hikers and joggers. You will mostly be hiking through forested areas, but it skirts the lakeshore in places. The trail starts in Russell Park.
